Product Description
Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza (FAF), originally known as Fazenda Fortaleza, has been in the Barretto family since 1850. Under the leadership of Silvia Barretto and Marcos Croce, the farm was transformed into a model for sustainable coffee production.
Today, the coffee operations are managed by Felipe Croce, who applies his years of experience to enhance both quality and sustainability. Felipe joined the farm full-time in 2009, and over the years, FAF has become a leader in experimenting with different coffee lots and processing techniques. He is also one of Five Elephant’s first direct trade partners, with our first coffee from them sourced in the 2011 season.
The Arara varietal, featured in this release, is known for its excellent resistance to leaf rust, making it particularly valuable in the context of global warming. As rising temperatures and unpredictable weather patterns threaten coffee production worldwide, Arara's late ripening and natural vigor allow it to thrive even under challenging conditions. In the cup, it delivers remarkable sweetness and complexity, balancing bright acidity with rich notes of milk chocolate and caramel.
